Flu Season: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) recommends the flu vaccine before the start of flu season for everyone 6 months and older. Check with your healthcare provider or local pharmacies. Check with the Montgomery or Bucks County Health Departments for free vaccine clinics.
Free COVID Nasal Test Swabs: Each household can again request 4 free COVID tests at COVIDtests.gov. Individuals who need help with ordering can call 1-800-232-0233.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of promoting breast cancer awareness in men and women and early detection. The American Cancer Society website (www.cancer.org) is user-friendly and includes answers to questions and resources.
Fire Prevention Week: The goal is to increase awareness and the need for working smoke detectors in bedrooms and on every floor, a home fire escape plan, and make sure everyone knows the plan and identified meeting place, keep emergency phone numbers and flashlight near a phone, and teach children how to dial 911.
National Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Domestic violence is a type of abuse that involves injuring someone, usually a spouse or partner, but is can also be a parent, child, or other family member. It is a serious problem and a common cause of physical injury that can result in depression, anxiety, or social isolation. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
